Summer Residency Program
Beginning in May 2022, Chemould CoLab operates a summer residency programme that runs from May to August, open to artists, curators, writers and researchers from any field of contemporary art. Artists are invited to live and work in Mumbai for 10-12 weeks to develop projects and draw inspiration from the city’s creative environment.
Sugra Manzil, a historic building located in Colaba has been converted into artists studios and a gallery space, keeping much of its original features and character intact.
For artists selected, the program provides onsite accommodation and a space for research, experiment and production of new work, alongside workshops, open studios, mentorship sessions, and other events run by us in collaboration with the residents to promote interaction and exchange of ideas both among artists and with the wider community. At the conclusion of their residency, artists are given the opportunity to exhibit and present the projects produced during their time at Chemould CoLab.
