In the ambience of an actor's dressing room, with its row of double lights, you encounter a calm individual traversing the world. She is a tiny point in the cosmos, an 'insignificant witness' of civilizations past and present. Almost like the viewer herself, she prepares for the unsettling truth that always lies beyond art and beauty.
Beyond, are the flaying of arms and furious flames. These imagined endings are foreseen for us.
However, as an artist, I don't submit to the trauma.
I stand back, and marvel at the tragic and the heroic. Like an actor, with empathy and delight, I immerse myself in scenes of terror and displacement.
