"Dayanita Singh builds portable museums and book objects. For this exhibition, she dived into her own archive and found yet another form. Taking her exhibition 'Parsees at Home' 2002, as a starting point, she has created this collection of works. These works will be gifted to the ""sitters"" once this exhibition is over. Taking the portraits made in 2002 and physically pasting in images made in 2023, (and sometimes in between too), Dayanita has created these analogue photomontages. The children in these portraits have grown into adulthood with her portraits from 2002 hanging in their homes and now they will have these montages of time and geography to add to their collection. An ongoing collection that Dayanita hopes to continue as the children become parents of their own children.
This continuity of growing looks at the future that is to come, while encompassing the past and carrying the present. "
