"In this bookshelf, Tallur's 3D laser cut pop up sculpture-books reflect on his 24years of artist-gallery relationship with Chemould. The images you see here are from his last 3 solo exhibitions, Past Modern (1999), Placebo (2009) and Smokeout (2017), fed into multiple artificial intelligence (AI) softwares, to explore what AI's response is to Tallur's art practice. 3D printed objects, reminiscent of his own sculptural installations from his previous exhibitions are part of this installation. He mentions that, ""To make the AI toddler an adult in itself is a big task. ArtFairs, Museums, Commissions – which artist exhibits go where - the gallery already has a pattern. AI will help strengthen this pattern."" The artist presents the beta version of his perception of this relationship in front of you. One of the larger questions in this work remains - Who is taming who with AI? Stephen Hawking, 1994, mentioned that,"" (AI)... would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded.”

In this installation, the participative component for all you viewers is to give a 0-10 (0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest) rating to each of these pop up sculpture-books, anywhere on them, with the pencils provided. Our future possibly lies at this junction of human-artificial intelligence.

___________

We encourage you to view the works by opening and interacting with the many parts within them. The folds, knobs, and finger holds are intuitively designed. Let your instinct guide you in interacting with the work. Do read the artist catalogue kept within the drawer. Reach out to gallery staff members to know more."
