A maze of references, sketches, models, cut-outs, paper dabbled with watercolours, one notices few elements reappearing and transforming with every occurrence like the telescope, microscope, parrots, monkey, people, sewing machine and abstraction. Harsha's works often boast of intricate illustrations, detailed brushstrokes, and witty playfulness. The study prototype of the heads on display was made for an artwork titled 'Thought Mala', 2011 that was commissioned by the John Ryland Library, Manchester. The garlands were intricate chains of individually-sculpted heads visitors to the library had to wear around their necks, the chains emphasised the way ideas and knowledge pass from one person to another via books.
The figures in his work, be it painting, sculpture or public installation are seen animated by a mutual curiosity, calling attention to something unusual. Additionally, the sheer dimension at which he operates requires planning and careful drafting, the display here includes a few of these rough drafts with precise measurements for when the work is upscaled.
