Gigi Scaria illustrates through ‘frames’, the imagery of artists who showcased at Chemould with his personalised artistic imprint, punctuated with historical moments. This installation bookmarks the starting of art history and the gallery-artist-family ecosystems that thrived in it. Amidst others, we meet Pilloo Pochkhanawala, Nalini Malani and Rummana Hussain, who have remained dominant in being the ‘firsts’ of female-led visibility and participation in Indian contemporary art. The representation of painted frames within solid frames created an inception of 'unframe-able' spaces encountering their intangible histories. Scaria’s pastel tones invite us to delve deeper into this transition.
